Meeting an elephant for the first time gives us a moment of presence

Ideas from Meditation allow our individual bodies to feel stillness.

When we sit and meditate a key idea is to try to eliminate thoughts from your mind, by focusing on our breath. This is the key mechanism to allow us to find inner stillness.

The practice of thinking about nothing allows us to be still and attentive while pushing away concerns, todos or other anxieties that come to the surface. By contrast when we let these thoughts surface, we become flustered, or allow ourselves to dream and not be present to our reality in this moment.

All these principles allow us, on an individual level to better see what is inside, but what if we applied this principle to when we are in contact with other humans — this is what I call human meditation.

Human meditation brings mindfulness to our interactions with others.

The goal of human meditation is to focus entirely on the synchronization of your breath with others, eliminate your own thoughts and be entirely present to understand the emotions and thoughts of who we are with.
